Anotrichium Nägeli

Plants up to about 10 cm long, filamentous, uncorticated. Thallus branching subdichotomous to secund, laterals borne singly, originating from the proximal ends of cells. Fourteen species are recognised (Guiry & Guiry 2015), of which two occur on the south coast.

Anotrichium – key to the species

1a. Branching almost dichotomous; apical cells only ca. 15 µm in diameter

Anotrichium furcellatum

1b. Branching largely secund; apical cells ca. 75 µm in diameter
