Genus Apoglossum
Thalli small, delicate, comprising stipitate blades with branching from the midrib; tetrasporangia in sori on blades. Growth from single apical cell, blades of one cell layer except at midrib. Seven species are currently recognized worldwide (Guiry & Guiry 2013), of which two are found on the south coast. See Wynne (1984) for a discussion of South African Apoglossum species.
