Callithamniella Feldmann-Mazoyer

Thalli small (to a few mm tall), ecorticate, monosiphonous, axes unbranched or sparingly branched. Carposporophytes unknown, tetrasporangia pedicellate, cruciately divided. Five species currently recognised worldwide (Guiry & Guiry 2015), two of which occur on the south coast

1a Determinate laterals unbranched, varying widely in length

Callithamniella capensis

1b Determinate laterals often with forking from the third (and fourth) cell, with little variation in length, 10 – 14 segments
