Lomentaria Lyngbye
Thalli hollow, anatomy of pseudoparenchymatous cortex lined internally with filamentous medulla. Septa, where present, cellular, partitioning the central cavity and dividing axes into segments. Tetrasporangia tetrahedrally divided, arranged in sori sunken in cavities in the cortex. Carpogonial filaments 3-celled, almost all cells of the carposporophyte developing in to carposporangia.
